As we approach the fishing opener, we invite you to engage your church community in supporting your team! This video is a great tool to help you start the conversation and share.

Tips for Planning Ahead with your Church

• Speak to your church ahead of time and ask for 5-8 minutes of the service to play the video and talk about the MN Fishing Challenge. The video is about 5 minutes long, and you will want to prepare 1-2 minutes of Fishing Challenge talking points. Most Sunday services are on a tight timeline, so be sure to tell them you’ll respect it.
• Coordinate with the audio/video team in advance to make sure the video plays correctly.
• Prepare what you will say. Notes can be helpful, especially if you don’t feel comfortable talking in front of a crowd. Keep it short and to the point. You can do this!
• Highlight the cause: Make it clear that all money raised will go to Mn Adult & Teen Challenge and that all overhead of the event is paid by corporate sponsors. Every dime they give will go directly to helping those in need.
• Set up a donation table: the church know you’ll be at the table after the service to accept donations and answer any questions they might have.
• Start a donation jar: Place a jar or bucket at the table for donations and add a few seed money dollars (like $10 or $20) to get things started.
• Consider a second offering: Ask the church if they would be willing to take up a second offering specifically for the fundraiser.
• Ask for team sponsorship: Invite the church to sponsor your team. Would they consider making a donation to MN Adult & Teen Challenge in your team’s name? It’s always worth asking!
